• This directory covers loaded FEC operating-expenditure payees, not all committee disbursements, all vendors, or the vendor's own finances.
• Identity groups exact reported names after case/whitespace normalization, state and ZIP5. These are reported payee groups, not verified legal entities; missing location information makes identity less certain. Punctuation and company suffixes are not merged.
• Only fixed-calendar electronic reports are included. The latest locally loaded file per committee/report-year/report-type is selected; paper, special-election, termination and unknown-source reports are excluded until their amendment chains can be verified. Later missing amendments remain unknown.
• Memo and deleted rows, duplicate source versions, invalid amounts/dates and future-dated records are excluded. Explicitly identified noncash accounting offsets are separated from default payment totals, and retained on payee profiles with source evidence. Remaining operating entries are not independently verified cash transfers and may include other in-kind activity. Negative adjustments are not necessarily refunds.
• Bulk operating-expenditure data provide reported city, state and ZIP, but no street address. A payee's party, industry, ownership and ultimate recipients are not inferred.
